AT&T has recently gone live with “GIGAPOWER” 1000Mbps residential Internet, TV, and Voice in the Seabright area of Santa Cruz. For comparison, that’s 41 times faster than AT&T’s previous fastest U-Verse 24Mbps residential service offering in the area. The new service is labelled “U-Verse Internet 1000” and is listed at $80/mo with a 12-month contract. With this roll-out, AT&T has beaten Cruzio to the punch to become the first ISP in the county to offer large-scale residential Gigabit Internet.

Other nearby coastal neighborhoods in the area are also being reported to be in the process of fiber installation for a possible larger area roll-out.
